I am calling about a bill that was being voted upon last year in the House and in the Senate and may be up for a new vote the year of 2013. CISPA would infringe on the privacy of all American Internet users. I urge you to oppose it when it comes up for a vote this week.
CISPA is
a blatant violation of 4th amendment constitutional
provisions.
It means the unreasonable search and seizure
of people's personal information and intended to be private
communications by corporations, various third party companies and
government agencies... even when there is no warrant out for their
arrest. If this bill passes, who shall police the police?
The Internet does not belong to the government. It consists of users and providers of access over the entire globe. In short CISPA is already declared unconstitutional. The part that says "notwithstanding any provision of law" is a legal loophole that circumvents the rule of law would allow vast abuse of the sweeping powers contained within the legislation. The use of terms such as "notwithstanding any provision of law" sets a legal precedent for vast abuse of power for all future laws and lawmaking in the US.
Even
with the amendments offered, I encourage you to vote NO on CISPA and
bills like this.
You swore an oath to uphold the principles of
the Constitution of the United States of America to enter into the
office of Senator. You will be required to answer to the people in
the next election for what you did. Internet issues are now something
that can either earn you a vote or cost you your election bid.
CISPA would obliterate any semblance of online privacy in the United States, giving the government and private companies-- including the military -- broad new powers to spy on Internet users.
CISPA demolishes existing barriers between the government and the private sector -- and between government agencies -- that restrict data sharing without cause, effectively allowing information about Americans' use of the Internet to slosh back and forth uninhibited. This is a severe threat to civil liberties.
It is understood that the NSA already has conducted secret surveillance on United States citizens against the 4th amendment already without authorization. I will not legally support such infringement on my privacy and liberty.
I stand for protection from unreasonable search and seizure of innocent civilians' online communications. Allowing ISPs and companies to spy on innocent civilians and their personal and private conversions, emails, etc -- and do so with impunity even without a court-ordered warrant for a civilian's arrest is evil by definition. This means the system for monitoring, surveillance and thievery of data and communications under this bill would be commonplace and made legal even if one has done no crime. Such a bill stands for being treated guilty before innocent and that there is no means for you to defend yourself against this predatory atmosphere of online information thievery.
This means that if somebody compromised my computer with a virus or malware even if a visitor, friend or wardriver did it, I would be considered a part of a cyber security threat and all my personal info might be subject to evaluation as being host to a cyber threat. You should focus on your own security deficits on your own computers instead of projecting it on the public.
Surveillance is a weapon and is only to be used on those that are actively threatening the lives of others. That includes the United States government. The people should have surveillance power over the government not the government over the people. Transparency has yet to be achieved. We the people are to hold you accountable for your actions while in office.
If
you support such legislation, we will lobby against you next
election.
I will not only cease to vote for you, but I will also
speak to my friends and colleagues about this if you vote in favor of
anything even slightly resembling CISPA.

Opinions
and Rants ::
Copyright and censorship issues were addressed in
SOPA and PIPA. If copyright were such a sacred cow to the US
government, then wouldn't copying and detaining every day user's
communications, which are copyrighted by default, by communications
providers and agencies be a violation of copyright?
These bills and bills like this are similar to enabling a gestapo or Nazi like secret police force, even corporate 'police', and-or local police to be able to monitor who you talk with, what you say, and where you go with your GPS enabled phones. They also, under this bill, can do so without your consent and without any ability to sue them. They and your ISP can share whatever information about you with any company or third party, even if you are subtly connected to a possible cyber-security threat including having a virus on your computer. Did your parents and or grandparents fight in World War 2 for no reason? Hitler and his ways have come to America. History shows us that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
If the government handles all your private information, they can threaten and intimidate you and your family and friends like the mob or mafia does.
This bill (being voted upon around the time the Dark Knight Rises hits the movie theaters), coupled with recently passed NDAA (which was passed on a New Years while many people were partying, distracted and or drunk and permits indefinite detention without due trial), NDRP (which also was passed on a holiday, St. Patrick's day that many people typically party and get drunk allows the President to steal all manpower (i.e. forced labor camps), resources, food production, electricity, transportation and companies in the US -- and steals all power of from congress and can be enacted even during times of peace), various executive orders and other such bills, what is to prevent the president from becoming a dictator of the likes of Hitler or Stalin if this legislation passes?
Our country preaches democracy to foreign nations, yet democracy has never even worked within the borders of our own country. Obviously the enemies that were portrayed in USA propaganda in the past around the time of the 50's to 60's, communism, fascism, and socialism are seemingly being put into place by our current, corrupt administration, and other various authorities and agencies.
We might all be labeled as terrorists if we refuse to submit our possessions and labor unto the government. The stand in government could find our refusal to be slaves and resistance in our online communications... then have us killed by the regime in power at that time. Remember hearing of Big Brother of 1984? If not, then please wikipedia an article on it. Anyone who thinks differently than the government and other potential dissidents would be given a nasty label such as insurgent, and likely will be killed in such a scenario.
